VIVAnews - The number of death victims from the earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale in West Sumatra has reached to 1195 people. This is the latest data obtained by West Sumatra Disaster Mitigation Unit on Tuesday, October 27.
According to the written information delivered by the Unit, Padang Pariaman regency, where 666 people were killed, is the area with the highest death tolls.
In Padang, 383 people died from being buried beneath the rubbles while in Agam regency, there are 81 death victims.
Meantime, 48 people died in Pariaman, 9 people in South Coast regency, 5 people in West Pasaman regency and 3 people in Solok.
Head of National and Political Unity Agency, Sudirman Gani said two people remain missing after the incident. They were in Padang.
Due to the earthquake, 119,005 houses were knocked down and 73,733 buildings were fairly damaged while 78,802 other were mildly broken.
Numbers of defected educational facilities reach 2114 units while 1364 were moderately damaged and 147 were lightly busted.
There are also 235 units of severely damaged healthcare facilities, 94 units of fairly defected facilities and 66 units which were slightly broken.
The earthquake also destroyed 246 government office buildings and mildly defected 103 units and broke 74 others.
After the earthquake hit on Wednesday, September 30, public services have been conducted in temporary office buildings.
Public facilities such as roads, bridges, religious centers, traditional market and irrigation were also devastated by the earthquake.
The total amount of losses inflicted by the tragedy reaches Rp 4.8 trillion. The final data was gained after verifications were done in the quake hit-areas.
