VIVAnews - In less than 2.5 hours, support for Bibit Samad Riyanto and Chandra M Hamzah on Facebook has sharply increased.
Until 8.25 am this morning, Monday, November 2, the “1.000.000 Facebookers Support Chandra Hamzah & Bibit Samad Riyanto” group has gained 307.372 members.
The numbers have gone up from 290.513 as viewed at 6 am this morning.
“The people became interested in giving support after it was publicized,” the group creator, Usman Yasin said on tvOne on Monday, November 2.
He also said the people were not merely following a trend. “It shows that community groups want to say something on their mind,” Usman said.
The group is targeting to reach 1.000.000 supporters or 10 percent of Facebook users all over Indonesia. According to Facebook members statistic-focused website, CheckFacebook.com, there are about 10 million Indonesians using the social networking site.
On Thursday, October 29, the police decided to detain Bibit and Chandra. According to the Deputy Head of Indonesian Police’s Criminal Detective Body, Insp. Gen. Dikdik Maulana said the police had reasons to arrest Bibit and Chandra.
The objective reason is, “the suspects are subjected to more than five years imprisonment,“ Dikdik said at the police headquarter on Jalan Trunojoyo, Jakarta on Thursday, October 29.
There is also a subjective ground. “He held a press conference which shapes a public opinion. It’s hard for us to work on the case,” he said.
Riyanto and Chandra were named suspects in the authority misuse and extortion cases. Both are charged with Article 12e of Corruption Eradication Law.
Both officials had allegedly misused their position while discharging PT Masaro Radiocom boss, Anggoro Widjojo and the President of PT Era Giat Prima, Joko Soegiarto Tjandra.
