VIVAnews - The number of foreign tourists in Indonesia reaches 493,800 people in Sept. 2009, 1.44 percent lower than Sept. 2008, which reached 501,000 people.
The amount of tourists entering the country through 11 main entrances in Sept. 2009 increased 0.50 percent compared to the same month last year from 410.800 people to 412,800 people.
"Compared to August 2009, foreign tourists which enter [the country] trough 11 entrances decreased 14.48 percent," said head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Rusman Heriawan in Jakarta on Monday, Nov. 2.
Foreign tourists who came to Bali through the Ngurah Rai Airport in Sept. 2009 increased 15.32 percent compared to the same month of 2009. Foreign tourist visits to Bali also decreased 6 percent, from 232,200 people in August 2009 to 218,200 in Sept. 2009.
Cumulatively calculated from January to September 1009, the number of foreign tourists reached 4.62 million people, higher 1.07 percent than the same period of last year, which hit 4.57 million people.
The room occupancy rate of starred-hotels in 14 provinces in September 2009 reached 45.54 percent, lower 6.14 points than the rate in August 2009 for 51.68 percent.
