VIVAnews - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the slowing pace of large and medium processing industry in the third quarter of 2009 signaled that the fiscal stimulus did not affect significantly.

Nonetheless, according to her, the deceleration was caused by the downturn in the global economy. "Fiscal stimulus only assists parts of the projects that the government carries out," said Mulyani on Monday, Nov 2.

She went on by saying that the low demand from global market triggered a contraction in the Indonesian export value by 25 percent.

Chief of the Central Statistics Agency Rusman Heriawan said the value of Indonesian export in September only reached US$9.38 billion or a 6.75 percent decrease compared to August 2009.

Meanwhile, January - September 2009 exports only hit US$80.13 billion, a 25.57 percent fall compared to the same period of last year.

Mulyani conceded not every fiscal stimulus that the government disbursed can reduce the delay.
