VIVAnews - Jakarta has been under rotating black-out since September as state electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is fixing up damaged electricity system substations. This situation has caused losses to small- and medium-sized enterprises in the Indonesian capital.

Due to the black-out, home-industries in Jakarta lose around Rp 10 billion per day, Deputy Chief of Jakarta Chamber of Commerce on Industry, Energy and Agrobusiness Rainer Tobing said on Monday, Nov 9.

In addition to inflicting material losses on the industry, the black-out also affects the workers psychologically.

The condition is apparent in the aluminium smelting industry. The black-out results in heavy production load, which in turns causes the workers to suffer from stress faster.

"PLN must be held responsible for all this. There shouldn't be power-cut for small-sized industry. They must be prioritized. Power-cut should be scheduled precisely," he said.

Today, the number of small- and medium-sized enterprises in Jakarta reaches 36,000.
