Central Jakarta Govt Repairing Drainage

The Central Jakarta government targets to finish improving all drainage in December.

VIVAnews – Central Jakarta administration provides thousands of sandbags and 60 units of water pumps as well as repairing the drainage on 67 spots as the raining season is coming.

“We have been repairing the drainage since last week,” said Chief of Maintenance of the Central Jakarta Public Works Agency on Watershed Management Juaini Yusuf, as quoted from the Jakarta government’s official site.

The repaired drainage include those located on Jalan H Agus Salim, known as Jalan Sabang, Jalan Percetakan Negara at Joharbaru, Jalan Merdeka Barat, Cempaka Putih area, and Jalan Kramat Raya. Other drainage is still being repaired.

Yusuf said that the government also replaced several drainage's caps on the streets during the repairing processes. The government also fixes the grooves at the flood-prone areas.

Yusuf added that there are 10 flood-prone areas in Central Jakarta, which are, among other, Jati Pinggir at Petamburan Subdistrict, Jalan Mangga Dua Abdad area, Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta, Jalan Sabang, and Serdang area.

There are now 60 units of water pumps ready to be operated. Two units are located on Senen underpass and Jalan Angkasa.
