VIVAnews - State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) President Director Fahmi Mochtar told Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa and Chief of National Development Planning Agency Armida S Alisjahbana that the electricity in Indonesia is in danger.

Fahmi said that concerns must be focused on the state electricity company in order to boost the economy.

"The current economic growth is four percent. If the economy is intended have six percent growth, the electricity must be up to nine percent," said Fahmi on Wednesday, Nov 11.

The state electricity company will at least need Rp 32 trillion worth of fund by 2010 to advance the performance. The fund will be allocated for fixing and setting up power plants, transmission and electricity supply.

"This emergency situation occurs because PLN has delayed investment for quite some time," he said.

According to Fahmi, Jakarta will require Rp 4.6 trillion to repair its electricity system.
