The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta is pleased to host the 2009 American Film Festival with the generous support of Kineforum and Jolly Time to highlight the International Education Week 2009. It is expected that the film festival will serve to emphasize the importance of education and how America and Indonesia can work together to support education and mutual understanding.
There are 16 American films focusing on different aspects of American education to screen from November 12 through 18, 2009, at Kineforum, TIM 21, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Cikini, Jakarta Pusat. The films are diverse, ranging from slapstick comedy to serious drama, and cover American movie making from the 1950s to the 21st century.
By choosing a range of popular movies, it is expected that the audiences will be able to discover American culture and values more broadly (Source: jakarta.usembassy.gov)
