VIVAnews - As many as 1,050 refugees of Battang Subdistrict are still staying at four refugee camps due to landslide in Palopo. Most of the refugees are women and children.

Military District Commander of Sawerigading of 1403 Lieutenant Colonel Dede Indrazat said all of the refugees are from Battang Subdistrict, West Bara, Palopo.

"They are now living in different spots such as at Katun Church, Kampung Tanete Mosque and Warung Tengah," Indrazat told VIVAnews on Thursday, Nov 12.

Dede said the refugees possibly cannot dwell in their homes because their homes are on the cliff.

"They must be relocated to new places," said Deputy Chief of the Palopo Disaster Mitigation Team.

However, it is not clear when the refugees will leave the camps.

According to Indrazat, the logistics supply have been distributed to the refugee camps. They provide health services for the refugees.

"Today, all we need is good coordination between the refugees and the disaster management team," he said.

The landslide occurred on Sunday night in Batang Barat Subdistrict, Palopo. The incident killed 13 people.
