VIVAnews - Vice President Boediono explained about the rotating power-cut that continues to occur in Jakarta. According to him, the initial problem arose on September 27 when the transformer in the extra-high voltage main relay station (GITET) in Kembangan which supplies electricity for the areas in West Jakarta was broken.
“The same defect was later experienced on October 29 by Cawang electricity substation that provides electricity for Eastern Jakarta,” Boediono said after the Friday Prayer at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, November 13.
The glitches were a major loss for Jakarta. “Due to the breakdowns, Jakarta lost 1000 megawatt of power and shut down about 700 megawatt,” Boediono said.
Currently, the government is trying to overcome this particular issue.
“The government has instructed to speed up the restoration and optimize all alternative solutions including supplying electricity from generators that are not using the two broken transformers,“ Boediono said.
He also said the attempt to fix the transformers in Kembangan was done in a few ways including hastening the operation of transformers in GITET Balaraja.
Since October 10, 2009, Balaraja has been taking over the work of Kembangan transformers.
The speeding up was also applied to Muara Karang gas turbine. There have been two turbines running in the area. One of the turbines started to work on October 5 and the other one, the 2.1 gas turbine on October 27.
As for Cawang, the government is trying to shift some of the transformers’ loads to Depok and Bekasi GITET.
“Also, buying some power from Argo Pantes, Cikarang Listrikindo and Bekasi Power. The total amount of energy is 89 megawatt”, Boediono said.
The VP also said they are attempting to replace the transformers with extras from Kriyan and bringing in several equipments from France and Japan.
“The restoration in Cawang will be completed at least by mid-December. Most likely in the first week,” Beodiono said.
