VIVAnews – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expressed his concern over the recent blackouts that often occurred in the capital. The President has called for the Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo to the Presidential office.
“I’m deeply concerned hearing that Jakarta is experiencing [electrical] problem, which should have been anticipated,” the President said in the Presidential office on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
The President explained that other countries, such as Brazil, often experience a similar condition, having blackouts in the capital. “But we should not compare it to other countries. We must figure out what to do in our own country. I would like to hear the report later, the reason [of the frequent blackouts] and the steps to tackle the issue,” he said.
President Yudhoyono said that it requires a fast and stern action to handle this issue, as well as to create the right management and business.
“It will be worthless if we build everything, agriculture, industry, service, if we do not posses electricity to support all of it,” he added.
After the meeting with the governor, the President will ask the Coordinating Minister for the Economy to urge all governors for solving the problem. The electricity shortage will be specially discussed in Palangkaraya.
“I am hoping that after the meeting, there will real steps with breakthroughs, do not make it as business as usual,” he added.
