VIVAnews - The national electricity crisis has also become the concern of the British Kingdom. British Energy and Climate Changes Minister Joan Ruddock said during her visit to the office of Coordinating Minister for Economy that England was ready to help Indonesia.

“We have discussed about the issue with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and the crisis is happening because of the high demand of electricity,” Ruddock said at the office of Coordinating Minister for Economy on Wednesday, November 18.

Based on the high demand and the need of additional capacity in huge amount, England understands that Indonesia requires a coal generator that is being established through the 10 thousand MW project. However, the country is still expecting Indonesia’s commitment in sustaining the reduction of global carbon emission.

“Therefore, we could help by developing a clean coal generator,” Ruddock said.

She also said that the purpose of her visit to several ministerial offices was to share England’s experiences.

“We keep encouraging energy companies to produce renewable energy. In England, the structures are different than in developing countries and we don’t give out subsidies. So, we are supplying electricity based on the Law,” Ruddock said.

The minister also suggested Indonesia to do the same thing as England by supporting the production of clean energy. Generally, companies will not be able to develop without incentives. “Without any incentive, they won’t be able to produce renewable energy,” she said.

What kind of incentive do they give in England? Ruddock said they make obligations for the companies and provide rewards for companies that produce renewable energy.
