VIVAnews - The police have constantly arrested groups of armed criminals in Jakarta. However, the detainment has not apparently stopped such crime from occurring.
Armed crimes are allegedly caused by the felons’ easy access to weapons black market. The issue has become a serious concern of the Jakarta Police.
“We are still investigating on the trade of illegal weapons that are usually used by the criminals,” Jakarta Police spokesperson Comm. Boy Rafli said on Monday, November 23.
He acknowledged the fact that illegal firearms are often smuggled to Indonesia through several waters.
“They usually buy the weapons from the black market,” Rafli said.
However, he said, most of the criminals whom the police managed to seize, were using assembled firearms.
