VIVAnews – The objection that came from the industrial players did not change the investment plan from China to Indonesia. Industry Minister MS Hidayat explained that the Chinese investors did not give any negative response on the issue.
Half of the industrial players stated that their unprepared for the free trade agreement (FTA) between ASEAN countries and China which will start on January 1, 2010.
There are at least seven industrial sector associations that will submit their objection in the ASEAN forum and ask for the FTA to be delayed.
“It [the objection issue] was mentioned by the Directorate General [of Industry]. But they [Chinese investors] said that it depends on the government,” said Hidayat after meeting 10 delegations from the Committee National People China Delegate Conference in Jakarta on Thursday, Nov. 26.
The Chinese delegations had stated their interest to invest in the shipyard, infrastructure, steel and agriculture sector.
Hidayat said that the government will facilitate the industrial sectors which still have objections concerning the ASEAN – China FTA implementation.
He stressed that the FTA is unavoidable. Therefore the industrial players must increase their domestic competitive abilities and eliminate all difficulties in their industries.
