VIVAnews – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono targets the trade volume between Indonesia and China in 2014 to reach US$50 billion, which is based on the improving investment climate in Indonesia.
“[The President] challenges [the entrepreneurs] and believes that the target will be achieved in the next five years,” said presidential spokesperson Dino Patti Djalal in the presidential office in Jakarta on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The President made the statement after a meeting with Liu Qi, a central committee politic bureau member of the Communist Party of China, in the presidential office. Liu was accompanied by CPC secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee Li Jinjun and CPC international department Zhang Qiyue.
The President is convinced that the China’s economic growth will reach 8.5 percent in the next five years to become the market for Indonesia’s products. “The US$30 billion target has been achieved in 2008, whereas it should be achieved in 2009,” said Djalal.
Liu also wanted a stronger relation with the political parties in Indonesia other than the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Liu is planning to hold a discussion which will involve all political parties in Indonesia with the Communist Party of China soon.
