Dec. 4 – 6: Hayao Miyazaki’s Films Screening

He is known as the one of the world’s greatest animation creators.

Hayao Miyazaki is famous not only in his home country Japan, but also known as the one of the world’s greatest animation creators. He created the best genres for fantasy, adventure, children/family animation.

On Dec. 4 – 6 2009 Bentara Budaya Jakarta will screed ten animation movies directed by Miyazaki, which among others is the Oscar winner for Best Animation. There will also a discussion with Toni Masdiono, an animation observer and expert from Bandung who has deep understanding of Miyazaki’s pieces.

Miyazaki was born in Tokyo, Jan. 5, 1941. He started his career as a junior animator for children cartoon movie and made his way up to become a director and lead animator for various films and series, which included his first film The Castle of Cagliostro (1980/100 minutes). The film later was made into a series about an adventure of a detective called Lupin III. Miyazaki often worked with Isao Takahata and together they set up the famous Studio Ghibli (Source: bentarabudaya.com).
