The Jakarta International Film Festival (JiFFest) has reached its second decade after the first festival which was held 10 years ago in the capital of the country. The 11th edition of this year festival marks the new chapter of JIFFest in addressing the next generation of local filmgoers and filmmakers.

The festival is opened by a local film, Sang Pemimpi, a sequel to Indonesia’s all-time box-office hit Laskar Pelangi. Moving further up, an omnibus feature film from 11 directors, including from JIFFest regulars such as Fatih Akin and Mira Nair, entitled New York I Love You, will be screened as our Closing Film.

In between the two countries, some other 114 film titles from around 23 countries will be screened in various sections. The World Cinema program includes high profile projects, such as Coco Before Chanel, The Damned United; award-winning films, such as Applause (Denmark), North (Norway), Departures (Japan, Academy Award winner earlier this year for Best Foreign Language film), Three Monkeys (Turkey), Jerichow (Germany); and heartfelt works such as (500) Days of Summer, Troubled Water, Love & Rage and Everlasting Moments (Source: jiffest.org).
