Australia Supports Indonesia’s Development

Academicians from Australia and Indonesia today are publicizing their joint research.

VIVAnews – Australia is committed to establish a good partnership with Indonesia for short- and long-term.

Australian Ambassador Bill Farmer said in the 2009 policies research forum in Jakarta on Tuesday, Dec. 8 that the partnership supports Indonesia in long term is an important part of the bilateral cooperation.

“I’m [Australia] a long-term friend, neighbor and partner. We are committed to support Indonesia in long term and back up the work based on Indonesia’s priority in the future,” said Farmer.

Well-known academicians from Australia and Indonesia today are publicizing their joint research on the priority governmental governance as a part of a collaborative research program. This research is financed by Australia.

In this forum, ten teams are announcing their findings on climate change and food sustainability security, public financial report, local political parties in Aceh, social insurance and guarantee, forest management and law making in regency level.

Farmer said that there are around 60 Indonesian institutions which are working together with Australia. He stated that he is proud to be able to work with Indonesia since both needs each other.

He predicts that in the next five years the partnership funding will reach US$2.5 billion dollar. It will continuously increase, compared to the present funding that only reaches US$400 million.
