VIVAnews - PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) is likely inviting an Asian contractor in working on a number of infrastructure projects in the Middle East.
"The contractor is from Japan," a VIVAnews anonymous source said on Thursday, Dec 10.
Wijaya Karya Corporate Secretary Natal Argawan said as confirmed that the company is planning on taking such infrastructure projects as roads and homes in the Middle East. "We will have several projects in Algiers and Libya," he told VIVAnews in Jakarta, Friday, Dec 11.
He said Kojima Corp of Japan can be involved in the project once again. "The project in Algiers is in collaboration with Kojima," said Natal.
Further outline cannot be revealed as the Middle East project has yet to take place. "Libya has proposed an offer," he said.
As per October 31, 2009, the Republic of Indonesia controls 68.42 percent of WIKA shares while the remaining is owned by the public.
As reported, WIKA is targeting new projects in Libya.
According to Wijaya Karya Director of Finance, Ganda Kusuma, the company is interested in road and housing projects.
Wijaya Karya still markets its project in Libya. However, the country may call on the company to deploy construction workers to the regions.
