VIVAnews - Indonesian state electricity company PLN Managing Director Dahlan Iskan vowed last week of speeding up the development of power plants outside of Java.

"The electricity crisis there [outer of Java] has been lasting for years," he said.

Dahlan claimed that the power plants should be of smaller capacities because the crisis mostly affects remote areas.

"We are designing projects of small power plants yet reaching the total capacity of 1500-2000 MW," said Dahlan.

Earlier, State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Mustafa Abubakar said he had discussed with the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to prioritize fuel supply such as gas and coal for domestic needs.

Mustafa said consumers would have to spend more money if domestic energy supply is not achieved. Moreover, the economy would also be in ordeal.
