VIVAnews - The targeted oil lifting of 960 thousand barrels per day made for this year proved unrealized. The lifting was only between 945 thousand and 948 thousand barrels per day. Oil production is going down to less than one million barrels per day.

According to Director General of Oil and Gas Evita Legowo, the unpredicted weather has been the main factor of target failure. "In November, some stock remained in store," she said on Monday, Dec 28.

She said she hoped the oil lifting next year would reach 960 thousand barrels per day. The government has several times ago proposed the targeted oil lifting in the 2010 State Budget of 960 thousand barrels per day, a stagnancy compared to the 2009 State Budget.

Oil production next year is estimated of being produced by PT Chevron Pasific Indonesia by 364,800 barrels per day, and Pertamina and its partners amounting to 131,800 barrels per day.

In addition to gas production, the government sets 7.6 trillion of British thermal units per day as the target compared to 2009 of 7.5 trillion BTU per day.

When asked about the chance of rejoining with OPEC in the future, Evita said it may not be possible because Indonesia's oil production is still lower than the domestic needs.
