VIVAnews - Jakarta Residency and Civil Administration Agency has just launched a mobile Citizen ID card service. It is expected that the service would simplify the process of renewing the cards. The Agency has also provided six units of mobile ID card service vehicles which will be operating in five regions of Jakarta and the Thousand Islands regency.

“Hopefully the service would reduce numbers of citizens who are lazy to renew their ID cards,” Jakarta Governor, Fauzi Bowo said as reported by the Jakarta provincial government’s official website on Monday, December 28.

The government has also provided door-to-door services for people suffering from ailment or permanent illness.

The mobile ID card service was launched on Sunday, December 27.

Bowo said there have been some people complaining that they do not have time to renew their ID cards. Therefore, he expects the new service would be able to eliminate such complaints.

“The service will be given in turns to every sub district,” he said.

He also asks local officials to make the most out of the service in a proper way.

Within the mobile service, the government will issue nationally-valid citizen ID numbers. That way, people will no longer be getting double ID numbers in the future.

“It’s easy. People will just have to come, being photographed and give their fingerprints. It won’t take long,” he said.

The governor also reminds citizens to be actively helping local governments in the application of national ID numbering system. They are also expected to report every residential case occurred in their areas.
