VIVAnews - The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) noted that the frequency of violent acts against the press has decreased.
"The acts of violence against journalists have dropped almost to 30 percent. This is good news," said AJI Chairman Nezar Patria on Tuesday, Dec 29.
As a comparison, the number of violent acts against journalists in 2008 reached 60. "In 2009, the cases slided to 40," he said.
AJI categorized the acts of violence into eight:
1. Murder, one case, Radar Bali journalist Anak Agung Narendra Prabangsa
2. Beating, 20 cases
3. Reporting ban, four cases
4. Lawsuit, seven cases
5. Hostage, two cases
6. Intimidation, one case
7. Demonstration, two cases
8. Censorship, two cases
