VIVAnews - The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights are looking into about 20 books claimed as provocative and are likely threatening the unity of nation. The outcome of the investigation will be delivered to the AGO as a recommendation for banning the distribution of the books.

Chief of Justice and Human Rights Ministry Research and Development Division, Hafid Abbas, said the books, which are undergoing the final stage of the analysis, are the ones encouraging suicide bombing, separatism, and domestic violence.

George Junus Aditjondro’s controversial work ‘Membongkar Gurita Cikeas: Di Balik Skandal Bank Century’ is not among the books being probed into. Abbas’ statement is also the amendment of the announcement given earlier by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Goncang, reporting the opposite thing.

The book has not been included in the investigation processes due to its novelty. The Ministry has started the analysis on the 20 books long before the book was published.

Abbas also said the books were part of around 200 books being analyzed by the Department.

However, before recommending the ban on the books, the Ministry would write books containing statements that would straighten the false perceptions. The government would also run campaigns and dialogues on the books. “We’re expecting that after these books are launched, the previous ones could be retracted,” Abbas said.

Along 2009, the AGO has also analyzed five books which eventually led to the conclusion of banning.

The books were ‘Dalih Pembunuhan Massal Gerakan 30 September dan Kudeta Suharto’ (The September 30th Movement & Suharto's Coup D'État in Indonesia) by John Rosa, ‘Suara Gereja bagi Umat Tertindas: Penderitaan, Tetesan Darah dan Cucuran Air Mata Umat Tuhan di Papua Barat Harus Diakhiri’ by Cocratez Sofyan Yoman, ‘Lekra Tak Membakar Buku: Suara Lenyap Lembar Kebudayaan Harian Rakjat 1950-1965’ by Rhoma Dwi Aria Yuliantri and Muhidin M Dahlan, ‘Enam Jalan Menuju Tuhan’ by Darmawan MM and ‘Mengungkap Misteri Keberagaman Agama’ by Syahrudin Ahmad.
