VIVAnews - Eight producers of refined sugar has realized as much as 1.05 million tons of raw sugar until July 2010.
This year, the imported raw sugar that the government allocates reaches 2.21 million tons, leaving 1.15 million tons in store, which will be imported from June 2010 until December 2010.
"Imported raw sugar has been absorbed by 1.05 million tons until June 2010," said Executive Director of The Indonesian Refined Sugar Association (AGRI) M Yamin Rachman on Thursday, Jan 7.
The Capital Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM) has issued production permit for eight refined sugar factories such as PT Angel Product, PT Jawamanis Rafinasi, PT Sentra Usaha Tama Jaya, PT Pemata Dunia Sukses Utama, PT Dharmapala Usaha Sukses, PT Sugar Labinta, PT Makassar Tene, and PT Duta Sugar Internasional.
The total production capacity of the eight factories reaches 3.206 million tons per year.
Based on AGRI's data, the refined sugar production up until December 2009 reached 2.7 million tons, 84.38 percent of the installed capacity.
