VIVAnews - The Indonesian government will impose the 6,600 voltampere (Va) electricity tariff which will apply this month.

Director General of Electricity and Energy Use, J Purwono, said the tariff implementation is in line with the 2010 State Budget Regulation saying that customers of 6,600 Va power are obligated to pay non-subsidized electricity tariff should they consume power more than 50 percent of median national use.

"The new tariff will be imposed by February," said Purwono in Jakarta on Thursday, Jan 28.

According to him, the agency has outlined the road map of subsidy transfer implementation from 2010 to 2014. The customers of 450 VA and 900 VA power will still be subsidized, while those subscribing for above 900 VA power be excluded.
