VIVAnews - The House of Representatives (DPR) will engage with the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) find a way out in solving tax evasion issue.

DPR Deputy Head of Commission XI Malchias Markus Mekeng said BPK will be involved in auditing the evaders. "We will likely ask them for a recommendation," said Mekeng in DPR on Monday, Feb 1.

Mekeng cited the work of Tax Office in assessing Asian Agri's tax, which has been going on for four years. As a result, the Attorney General's Office still declines the report which, according to Tax Office, is deemed complete.

"There is a grey area. Therefore, we've agreed to set up a team to look into the issue. We're aiming at reassuring tax payers to remain calm," he said.

DPR viewed that the large potentials of tax arrears may result from different views in tax preparation. "There may be errors in the IT section. We'll conduct a cross-check," said Mekeng.

The team will shortly work on the issue with 26 members of Commission XI.
