VIVAnews - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) expected that 3 million blood bags will be available every year starting in 2010.
'We're planning to make more promotion by opening more blood-donation spots in public spaces," said former Indonesian vice president Jusuf Kalla.
The PMI will advance the target in every region in Indonesia.
Kalla cited the PMI now owns 2,000 blood bags, while blood needs in Jakarta reach 1,200 bags.
"However, the PMI demands for 4,000 blood bags," said Kalla.
According to Kalla, the red cross is indeed responsible of supplying blood bags.
The low budget that the government allocates is seen by Kalla as not the main problem of blood bag supply in the country.
However, Kalla promised new facilities will be offered to the PMI. "Blood donation is to be frequented, more facilities and cars will be available," he said.
