VIVAnews - After the Asean-China free trade agreement was signed earlier this year, China-made products flooded Tanjung Priok harbor in Jakarta.
Nonetheless, the observation conducted in France-based supermarket Carrefour showed that Chinese products have yet to dominate the display.
A worker at Carrefour, Deni, who like many Indonesians goes by one name, said since the FTA was applied, no significant change was seen over the supply of Chinese electronic products.
"It's like the other days," he said yesterday, Feb 3.
In fact, consumers are still fond of taking with them branded items such as Toshiba, Sharp or LG. "There are some old Chinese products left in store," he said.
Deni said consumers lack confidence over Chinese products due to alleged poor quality control which resulted in the low prices.
