VIVAnews - The Indonesian currency rupiah in the interbank spot market depreciated against the US dollar during the early transaction today at between IDR9,420 and IDR9,430 against US dollar.

On Friday, Feb 5, the rupiah was closed at IDR9,425 against US dollar.

A foreign exchange dealer at PT Bank OCBC NISP Tbk, Heles, said the negative swing of several regional currencies against US dollar were viewed as the strongest catalyst of the depreciation. "However, Japan's yen is still solid against US dollar," Heles told VIVAnews on Monday, Feb 8.

Based on Bloomber at 8.30 a.m., the rupiah was at IDR9,425 against US dollar.
