VIVAnews - PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) is waiting for confirmation on the construction project assignment in Middle East in March or April 2010.

Meanwhile, the company’s financial performance in 2009 was estimated to rise until 20 percent compared to 2008.

“The contractor for the project will be appointed around March and April,” WIKA President Director, Wijaya Karya Bintang Perbowo said at the IDX building in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 9.

He also said the company had established a joint venture with the Bin Laden group. In the venture, WIKA owns 30-40 percent of shares and is intended to build a mosque.

In late 2009, it was estimated that the company had 10-20 percent revenue increase compared to 2008, which was Rp 6.56 trillion. Meantime, net profit was estimated to go up 20 percent from the previous year of Rp 156 billion.

“Our financial performance in 2009 went beyond what we’ve set in the company’s budget and work plan,” Perbowo said.

Subsidiary Liquidation

Wika will also shut down its subsidiary, PT Wika-NGK Insulators. The decision was made at the shareholders meeting on February 5, 2010.

“The liquidation was not a material transaction,” Corporate Secretary Natal Argawan Pardede says at a written statement published by the IDX today, February 9.
