VIVAnews - The Indonesian government is seeking the chance to develop an international hub port.

Deputy Trade Minister Mahendra Siregar stated that 141 ports in Indonesia are aiming for the opportunity.

"Within the next two years, a study to choose which port in the eastern and western area eligible for the plan," said Mahendra on Monday, Feb 15.

The study, he said, will be a follow-up of the implemented national logistics blue-print that has been completed by the government in its 100-day program. The blue print also outlines more intact infrastructures for the Dumai port, Riau, taking into account the development of crude palm oil industry in the province.

The hub-port project will also prop up the six-corridor concept of Indonesian economic development as regards commodity center.

The six corridors take place on the northern and southern areas of Sumatra, northern area of Java, central-southern-eastern Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Papua (Manokwari and Jayapura), and Denpasar - Bali.

"The government will prioritize the corridors in Sumatra and northern Java," he said.
