IDR700 Bn Prepared for Optical Fiber Project

The ministry do not allocate more budget in the project.

VIVAnews - The Information and Commissions Ministry expected of accelerating the development of telecommunication infrastructures in Eastern Indonesia. Therefore, the ministry this year is preparing the backbound optical fiber growth in every provincial capital.

The backbound optical fiber program is a follow-up to the Palapa Ring calendar in eastern Indonesia. It is expected that the connected area would improve in their communications.

The ministry do not allocate more budget in the project. The ministry's secretary general Basuki Yusuf Iskandar said the ministry only put up incentives between IDR700 billion and IDR800 billion. The fund is taken from the utility service obligation, gained from the operators' revenues.

"We acquire 1.25 percent or IDR1.2 trillion per year from operators, which we will use. The amount would only between IDR700 billion and IDR800 billion," said Basuki, Feb 17.
