VIVAnews - The Indonesian government is ready to offer large number of infrastructure projects this year. The offer will be made at the 2010 Asian Infrastructure Exhibition (IA2010) that will be held from April 14 to 17.

National Development Planning Agency Infrastructure Division Deputy Head, Dedy S Priatna said the exhibition would take place at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran. The event will be held together with the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on the collaboration between the government and private sectors in infrastructure development.

The exhibition is one of the government’s commitment to speed up the development of infrastructure. It is also expected that the exhibition will improve investment climate in Indonesia following the claim saying that various regulations have been revised. This will also encourage private sectors to participate in national development.

Priatna also said there would be a lot of infrastructure project offered. “Each department will offer at least 4 projects that are ready to be worked on,” he said while attending the 2010 Asian Infrastructure Seminar in the National Development Planning Agency office on Wednesday, February 17.

The agency has also listed 86 projects that are ready to be offered this year on the government-private sectors collaboration book (PPP Book). The investment value of the 86 projects has at least reached Ro 459 billion. “It’s pretty big,” Priatna said.

He also reminded the public not to consider the offer as a project privatization because due to the government’s incapability.

Priatna pointed out that the basis of the project offer is Build Operation Transfer, which means private companies have to hand over the projects to the government after the concession period is over.

“The PPP doesn’t set out how many percent foreign participation is allowed, but we encourage  the use of local products,” he said.

This year, out of 86 PPP Book projects, 8 are ready to be carried out.
