Opera Mini Teams Up with Telkomsel

Indonesia is the country with the second most Opera Mini users below Russia.

VIVAnews - Opera Software has just signed a strategic partnership with telecommunication operator Telkomsel to provide Opera Mini mobile browser for its users.

Opera projects that Telkomsel will be extending the range of Opera Mini browser to 82 million customers, which will help Opera create a significant development in promoting the web use.

Telkomsel subscribers will be able to use optimized Opera Mini version 5. The customization includes changes in toolbar, integrated billing system, homepage content and many others.

“Collaborating with Telkomsel is a really important step to Opera because it will open doors for us to the Indonesian market,” Opera Software CEO Lars Boilesen says in the company’s press release.

Opera Mini is an Opera-created mobile browser which offers server compressions to allow webpage download simplification up to 90 percent from the original size.

Indonesia is the country with the second most Opera Mini users below Russia. Recently, Opera has just released the number of Opera Mini users throughout the world which has reached 50 million people every month. Based on the latest data of global statcounter, Opera Mini’s market share in Indonesia is up to 81.3 percent.

“Opera Mini has proven its popularity in Indonesia and we’ll help the people of Indonesia getting the beloved browser on their mobile phones,” Telkomsel President Director Sarwoto Atmosutarno.

Both companies are planning to keep developing the versions of Opera Mini for Telkomsel and add unique features in the future.
