VIVAnews - Within the next five years, the IT industry will be more focused on data services as it now starts aiming attention at the ecosystem between device, connectivity and content.

"As regards devices, low-end 3G-based cell phones, data cards, netbooks, iPhone, Android and the more affordable Windows 7 will hit more into the market resulting in the higher data traffic," said Hasnul Suhaimi, XL President Director, today, Feb 22.

Hasnul stated that the many devices available in the market will stimulate XL's data traffic.

"In addition, as far as content is concerned, social media sites are getting more exposures, which would boost our traffic in 2010," said Hasnul. "I read a report that in 2009 seven million people signed in on Twitter and Facebook through cellphones," he said.

Concerning VAS and the Internet, the growth was quite significant, especially on data services. "The growth in 2008 was one percent, compared to 2009 of six percent," said Hasnul.

XL, according to data from the Corporate Communications General Manager, Febriati Nadhira, said today is in store of 37 TB of data per day. "We have only used around five TB for traffic," said Febriati.
