VIVAnews - Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Hatta Rajasa said six cooperation agreements between Indonesia and the United States will be signed during the visit of President Barack Obama to the country on March 20-22.

The six agreements include the investments in agriculture, forestry, energy, mineral resources, education and industry.

“They have prepared a fairly high amount of fund for the investments,” Rajasa said after attending a meeting at his office on Jalan Wahidin, Jakarta today, February 23.

According to him, Indonesia will be making the most of Obama’s visit to support national development. However, the minister said he could not remember the amount of the investment funds.

Meanwhile, he said that the meeting was discussing about the interests in investing in Indonesia, which was presented by the Investment Coordinating Board. The results of the analysis show a trend of increasing investments after the global financial crisis.

Besides the US, another country that has conveyed its interest in investing in Indonesia is Japan. “We have to use this momentum because we need IDR2000 trillion to boost economic growth,” Rajasa said.

In total, investment projects in 2010 are worth more than IDR500 trillion, which was coming from permits that have been issued.

Right now, the government is still waiting for the implementation of the commitment in order to achieve the targeted number. “Last year, we earned about IDR160 to 170 trillion from domestic and foreign investments. There was a slump due to the global crisis”, he said.
