VIVAnews - PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara granted US$38 million worth of aid to the West Nusa Tenggara, West Sumbawa and Sumbawa Regency administrations as a celebration of 10-year anniversary of PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT) operation.
PT NNT President Director Martiono Hadianto said the fund aid is aimed at the social-development and social-welfare projects.
"The social development fund aid is not on the list of the fund aid we regularly allocate every year. We only allocate the aid for 2010," said Martiono Hadianto on Monday, March 1.
The aid is symbolized by the MoU signing on fund management for social development program in West Nusa Tenggara, West Sumbawa Regency and Sumbawa Regency.
Martiono said during 10 years of Newmont operation in Batu Hijau, PT NNT seals various achievements especially on workplace safety, environment protection and social responsibility.
PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara commenced operation in 1986 based on a working contract. !n 1990, the company discovered copper mineral deposit named batu hijau.
