VIVAnews - The police of West Sumatra have intensified security in its borderline area with North Sumatra in order to stall the terrorists coming from Aceh. According to the Public Relations Officer of West Sumatra Police, Comm. Kawedar, his team will be increasing patrols.

“We’ll increase supervision in the borderline. The officers have been asked to obstruct the terrorists’ movements,” Kawedar told VIVAnews on Monday, March 8.

He also said the possibility of the terrorists' intrusion through the borderline is quite high due to its proximity with Aceh. Intelligence activities will also be intensified to obtain more information on possible intrusions.

“Police will increase patrols in areas that are likely to be chosen as hideouts,” he said.

Earlier, three police officers were killed during a raid in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.

Indonesian Police Chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri said his station had deployed military troops as a backup in the raid. No military assistance was involved.

Nineteen suspects were arrested after the raid. Three of them were killed.
