VIVAnews - State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has passed on six projects of large capacity, that have become part of the 10.000 megawatt (MW) electricity generator project, to private parties.

“There will be six second-stage projects given to private companies,” Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Director General of Electricity and Energy Use (LPE), J Purwono said in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 10.

He also said PLN decided to cut their portion because the company wishes to focus on small-scale geothermal-powered electricity generator (PLTP) and other types of generators. “We’ll ask PLN for some information,” he said.

Purwono went on by saying that the changed amount of portion of PLN and the private parties will lead to possible revision of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministerial Decree No 02/2010 on The List of Electricity Generator Development Acceleration Projects Using Renewable Energy, Coal and Gas.

The decree states that 14 transmission projects will be carried out by PLN and the other 35 projects will be worked on by the Independent Power Producers (IPP). It also states that the total amount of power in the second stage will reach 10,153 MW.

The 21 locations that will be taken on by PLN include PLTP Tangkuban Perahu I with the capacity of 2x55 MW in West Java, PLTP Kamojang Unit 5 (1x40 MW) and Unit 6 (1x60 MW) in West Java.
