VIVAnews - US President Barack Obama will be in Jakarta on March 23-25. He will not take with him the whole family, as has been planned earlier, according to Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa today, March 15, after meeting US Assistant to the Secretary of State for Asia-Pacific Region Kurt Campbell.
Marty and Campbell discussed about the substances of Obama's visit such as agreements on science and technology, investment guarantee, people-to-people contact in the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) framework.
"The Obama's trip highlights on the beginning, instead of conclusions, of the attempts in tying up the Indonesia-US partnership" said Marty.
The shifted schedule, he claimed, has caused the family to cancel their plan to go along with Obama. "We're expecting that someday we can welcome Mr Obama and his family in Indonesia," said Marty.
Marty cannot yet inform about the destinations that the US president will visit.
Earlier, unofficial sources stated that Obama would visit Indonesia along with his family on March 20-22. However, the schedule was revised due to the tough debates on health care votes in the US Congress.
