VIVAnews - HT Mobile has existed in the country’s mobile phone market for exactly a year. Yesterday, March 18, the brand belonging to PT Sinar Jaya Sukses Mandiri celebrated its first anniversary in Jakarta.
HT Mobile, which previously went by the name of Hi-Tech Mobile, has taken on 2 percent of local mobile phone market share.
That means, referring to the results of Gfk research as of 2009, suggesting that Indonesia’s cell phone market size reaches 1.7 million units per month, HT Mobile gets the portion of 34,000 units per month.
However, Nur Amin, General Manager of HT Mobile, denied the survey. He assumed the survey only represents 70 percent of the actual market size. “If we go to the maximum point, actually there have been about 2.6 million units being marketed in Indonesia,” he told VIVAnews today, March 19.
“With 2 percent of market share, around 50,000 units per month out of the number is the portion of HT Mobile”.
During the past 12 months, HT Mobile has successfully released 24 Qwerty-designed cell phones, which include G19, G11, G30 and G33 that have earned their spots in the market.
“Next year, we’re expecting to increase the market share to four percent by launching 15 new products. Some of them will certainly be Android-based,” Amin said.
