VIVAnews - ZTE has announced its annual financial report that was due on December 31, 2009. Based on the report, ZTE has accounted approximately USD 8.82 billion worth of income last year.  The number has gone up 36.08 percent from 2008.

The company has also earned USD 359.7 million of net profit, rising 48.06 percent compared to 2008.

“As one of ZTE’s prominent market in Asia Pacific, Indonesia plays an important role in contributing to the company’s business growth,” ZTE Indonesia Vice President, Zhu Xiaodong said in a statement on April 14. “Indonesia’s rapid economic growth has become a new economic growth machine in South East Asia”.

He also said that during the global economic crisis in 2009 where most Asian countries were experiencing negative escalations, Indonesia had a raise of 4 percent right below China and India.

According to financial company Morgan Stanley, Indonesia has the biggest economic growth in South East Asia with combined economic growth of USD 800 billion and 60 percent increase within the next five years.

As for telecommunication business, Bank Indonesia mentioned that the government has promised to spend USD 140 billion of budget on infrastructures for the next five years and expected the economy to grow at least 5.2 percent this year. “If a company can obtain 10 to 20 percent of market shares, it will be an appeal,” Xiaodong says.

Last year, ZTE managed to establish and implement agreements with Indonesia’s major players in telecommunication such as PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk, PT Telekomunikasi Seluler Indonesia, PT Indosat Tbk, Hutchison CP Telecommunications Indonesia, PT Smart Telecom, and PT Mobile-8 Telecom Tbk.

“In the future, we’ll be focusing more on the development of our services and our support towards Indonesia’s telecommunication industry,” Xiaodong said. “Together with our local partners, teams and local communities in Indonesia, ZTE is committed to expand telecommunication industry in Indonesia through knowledge and technology transfers as well as collaborations. We believe there is still high number of opportunities to work on telecommunication business in Indonesia”.
