VIVAnews - Capital Market and Financial Institution Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK) reopens mutual funds data for access after is has been restricted from the public for almost a year.

"As of today, the webpage containing mutual funds data is accessible," said Bapepam-LK Chief Fuad Rahmany in Jakarta, April 20.

Bapepam-LK Head of Investment Management Bureau Djoko Hendratno said the webpage has been advanced and more complete than the earlier version.

A team from Bapepam patched various issues like mutual funds NAB data, investors, as well as profiles of investment management companies.

Nonetheless, said Djoko, the webpage is not yet final.

Djoko denied that the deactivation of mutual funds data was due to the global economic downturn. "It's not by virtue of the crisis because the data entry kept going. It requires more than one to two weeks to improve the system. Even the United States could only top off the data base after 20 years," he said.

As reported, Bapepam-LK since 2008 decided to shut down most of the access to mutual funds data to the public. The data was only accessible by mutual funds investment management companies.

Bapepam-LK closed access to mutual funds data due to the fall in total asset under management.

Mutual funds' NAB started to decline after September 2008 to Rp 83.9 trillion (US$9.3 billion) compared to the month earlier at Rp 92.11 trillion.
