VIVAnews - Dust particles from the Icelandic volcano eruption has disrupted flights across Europe this week. Although Indonesia is not affected by the volcanic ash, the disaster disturbed flights from Indonesia to several countries in Europe.

Up until this evening, around 3,000 passengers scheduled to fly back to Europe have remained stranded in Bali.

"The [stranded] passengers are not not only those taking off from Bali, but also those Europe-bound flights transiting in the island," said Heru Legowo, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Gusti Ngurah Rai, told VIVAnews today, April 20.

The passengers who cancelled their flights must stay in Bali for a while until the European airspace is safe for flights.

"What's mostly concerned is that the flight ban is prolonged because tourists have both lacked money and had to renew their visas," he said.

As a matter of fact, some prominent European airlines have conducted flight tests using unmanned aircrafts.

As a result, the aircrafts managed to go through the volcanic ash safely.

However, the owners of airlines and local administrations do not want to take risks.
