VIVAnews - The Entrepreneurship Summit (KTT) was officially opened on Tuesday, April 27 in Washington, United States by the US Secretary of Commerce, Gary Locke. The event was attended by 250 notable entrepreneurs from 40 countries.
The participants have agreed to establish an entrepreneurship in the purposes of developing domestic economy, increasing inter-state economic synergy to support business climate, creating job opportunities and eliminating poverty. The importance of financial access to young and social entrepreneurs was also one of the topics discussed.
While closing the first session of the summit, US President Barrack Obama emphasized how crucial it was for the US and Muslim countries to collaborate and form a synergy in entrepreneurship.
Indonesian representative Sandiaga S Uno said the summit was perfectly arranged to allow 250 participants having an intensive discussion on how to improve their businesses and increase their quality of lives despite their religious and racial differences. All participants actively shared their stories, especially of their best practices and challenges, which would be solved together.
Uno also said the most impressive thing was the participants were not distracted by trans-national issues.
“There were a lot of participants whose countries were in dispute or disagreement. But that didn’t stop us from sharing our views and seeking solutions,” Uno told VIVAnews on Wednesday, April 28. “If two hundred and fifty attending participants could bring a thousand ideas, that means the summit will be able to produce two hundred and fifty thousand new ideas to be applied to the whole world”.
Therefore, he said, Indonesia would try to ask banks and financial institutions to support the initiative.
During the event, Uno also had an opportunity to have a brief chat with Obama in Bahasa Indonesia.
“He is looking forward to go to Indonesia and we happen to have the same hobby, which is basketball. Hopefully he would get a chance to play together with young national players in Jakarta,” he said.
