VIVAnews - Former Polish President and World Peace Nobel Prize receiver Lech Walesa said the world is currently losing its leadership at a global level. Besides the absence of superpower countries in various aspects, Walesa considered the existing countries are morally weak.
Therefore, according to him, the world, especially European countries, should learn from Indonesia because the country has been able to maintain its unity and build integration amid the diversity.
“[Indonesia] is a huge country with various traditions and a lot of islands, compared to Europe. But, [the country] is able to maintain the unity. We Europeans should learn from it,” Walesa said during a presidential lecture in front of the cabinet members at the Presidential Palace on May 12.
He took an event in Poland during the Nazi regime as example. At that time, Europe did not seem to care about Poland and considered it as a merely local conflict. “Poland’s warning was never heard until the war got to Paris and it was all too late,” the former labor activist said.
Globally, Walesa assumed that previously there were two blocks of antagonists that had power in weaponry and economy. Now, there is only the US with its military force.
“However, America has been economically deteriorating and it’s not a moral leader. Today, the world has lost its leader and everything gets weaker. We should fix this situation,” he said.
