VIVAnews - Former Jamaah Islamiyah member Nasir Abbas said he knew terrorist fugitive Abdullah Sunata . According to him, Sunata has a tough personality.

“I knew him during our serving time in Jakarta Police prison back in 2004,” Abbas told VIVAnews on Monday.

Abdullah Sunata according to him is a strong anti-government figure with the power to influence people to follow his teachings. “He’s really good at influencing people”.

Abbas also believed Sunata is a two-faced person. Sunata, he said, kept telling about his resentment towards authorities but secretly sought assistance from police personnel in helping his family.

“He hates them, but he quietly asks for money for his children and his wife, who were about to deliver another baby. I am concerned,” Abbas said.

He also urged Sunata’s followers to end their devotion to the runaway terrorist because he does not consider Sunata a worthy leader.

Besides Sunata, Abbas said he also knew another terrorist figure, Maulana, who was shot down during a raid on last Wednesday, when they were both deported from Malaysia.

“Abdullah Sunata and his network have actually been targeting the president for a long time. But, it hasn’t been revealed until now”.

Indonesian Police Chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri said after the raid that the targets of the Aceh terrorist group that were arrested in Cikampek and Cililitan last Wednesday were the president and government officials. The terrorists were planning to execute the action during the Indonesian Independence Day celebration.

Several numbers of AK47 and M16 guns along with thousands of bullets were found at the scene. Some sharp objects were also discovered in a raid in Sukoharjo, Solo last Thursday. The raid also led to the arrest of three terrorist groups, who were immediately flown to Jakarta and put at the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) HQ in Kelapa Dua, Depok.
