VIVAnews - Bank Indonesia (BI) has noted that the value of transactions using ATM transfer system has been Rp 81 trillion in a month. Per day, the average value of the transactions reaches Rp 3 trillion.
According to BI, the transactions consist of interbank transfers of Rp 73.83 trillion with the volume of 27.951 million times and interbank transactions of Rp 8.538 trillion with the volume of 4.834 million times.
BI Payment System Management Team Leader Puji Atmoko said with such high amount, great customer protection is required. The proposal of Fund Transfer Bill Draft to the House aims to provide the customers with fund insurance and transparency.
Banks are required to be on time in transferring funds in the same amount upon request. Non-banks remittance service providers will also be overseen in the bill.
Meanwhile, the amount of ATM cash withdrawals along March 2010 was Rp 73.745 trillion with the volume of 104.728 million times. The number has gone up from Rp 65.582 trillion in February with the volume of 104.728 million times.
The use of debit cards for shopping was worth Rp 5.27 trillion in March 2010 with the volume of 8.807 million times, which was more binding than the number in February of Rp 4.516 trillion with the volume of 7.857 million times.
As for credit card transactions, the number reached Rp 417.18 billion with the volume of 408.934 times in March 2010, going higher from Rp 340 billion in February 2010 with the volume of 342.592times. Meantime, purchases using credit cards were Rp 13.654 trillion with the volume of 16.888 million times.
