VIVAnews - US President Barack Obama would visit Indonesia on the coming June 14.

Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs, Maria Otero, revealed the issue during a press conference in Washington DC, Monday, May 24.

PJ Crowley, during the conference, introduced Otero to the press. "She just visited Indonesia and will now share her views on the country in accordance with our preparation for the presidential visit next month," said Crowley as quoted from the US Secretary of State's webpage.

Otero said she visited Indonesia as a preliminary stop prior to Obama's visit. "As PJ said earlier, anticipating and preparing for the Presidential visit on June 14, I visited Indonesia to meet the state officials, NGO organisators and other figures to talk about global issues that may be jointly put into concern by the United States and Indonesia," said Otero.

However, neither Otero nor Crowley explained further about the exact schedule of the Presidential visit.

The White House has yet to circulate official announcement of the coming visit.

Mr Obama has postponed visits to Indonesia twice in November and March. Obama had spent his childhood in Jakarta in 1967 and 1971.
